Braiding Knowledges Canada
From Knowledge to Action: Braiding Indigenous and Western Knowledges for Canada’s Future
In early March 2026, Braiding Knowledges Canada, formerly known as the Canadian Mountain Network, hosted its annual gathering, Braiding Knowledges Canada 2026 Gathering, at Wanuskewin National Heritage Site in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
The purpose of these gatherings is to braid Indigenous and western knowledge systems to address environmental and societal change across Canada. This year’s gathering, themed “From Knowledge to Action,” created a shared space of learning, reflection, and connection. Participants engaged in dynamic keynotes, panel discussions, and interactive sessions. These diverse dialogues and perspectives deepen inclusive pathways for knowledge sharing and decision-making.

We worked with the client to gather 162 participants from across Canada, including Indigenous organizations and community representatives; Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Indigenous leaders; university researchers and academics; government representatives; and non-profit partner organizations.
Naut’sa mawt Event Management provided end-to-end event management expertise, ensuring a smooth delivery of this complex, multi-day event. Collectively, we created, managed and implemented various event logistics to make this gathering come to life.
Our scope of work included:
- Subcontractor management, coordinating catering, audio visual components, and ensuring client requirements were delivered clearly and consistently, before and during the event
- Cultural elements coordination, liaised with the venue’s cultural coordinator on key cultural components such as Pipe Carrier for the ceremony, Elders opening day one and closing day 3, storytelling, etc.
- Registration management, managed participant registration, payment process, and responded to participant inquiries
- Communication management, drafted participant and speaker communication on behalf of the client
- Microsite development, created a bilingual registration microsite in collaboration with Indigenous Marketing Solutions and the client’s internal designer for accurate branding and a seamless user experience
- Onsite event management led onsite delivery, including set-up and teardown, technical rehearsal, and overall run-of-show execution
- Speaker management, briefing speakers, ensuring speaker readiness, and coordinating with the AV team to ensure correct microphone setup and timely integration of presentation slide decks for panellists and speakers
As an Indigenous organization grounded in culture, protocol, and trauma-informed practice, Naut’sa mawt Event Management is honoured to support gatherings that contribute to reconciliation and create lasting impact for Indigenous Peoples and communities across Canada.
We look forward to continuing this important work with partners who share our commitment to creating spaces that bridge Indigenous and western perspectives in a safe way.
